The design approach focused on preserving the soul of the home while gently reimagining how it could support modern living. Working within heritage constraints, the interiors were carefully opened and softened to create a greater sense of flow, light and connection throughout. Wide passageways, layered living spaces and moments of pause allow the home to feel calm, generous and deeply liveable.

A muted, warm material palette was selected to complement the home’s original detailing and sense of history. Natural stone, terracotta, timber and textured finishes sit harmoniously alongside restored heritage features, creating interiors that feel both refined and grounded. Throughout the home, subtle references to Georgian styling were thoughtfully integrated and reinterpreted in a contemporary way, celebrating craftsmanship, proportion and timelessness without feeling overly formal.

The relationship between indoors and outdoors became an important part of the experience of the home. Large framed windows invite natural light deep into the interiors while capturing garden outlooks and creating a constant visual connection to the surrounding landscape. As the home unfolds across multiple levels, the spaces maintain a sense of intimacy and retreat, despite their scale.

A newly introduced lower-ground level provides additional living and breakout spaces for the family, designed with flexibility and longevity in mind. The overall planning allows the home to evolve naturally over time, supporting both gathering and quieter moments of retreat as family life changes.

Sustainability and thoughtful preservation also played a significant role in the project. Existing and vintage furnishings were carefully incorporated throughout, layering the home with character and story while reducing unnecessary waste. Decorative lighting, tactile finishes and collected pieces bring warmth and personality into the spaces, ensuring the home feels deeply personal rather than overly curated.

Rosetta is ultimately a celebration of old and new — a home that respects its architectural history while embracing a softer, more contemporary way of living. Quietly elegant, layered and enduring, the residence feels deeply connected to both its past and the family who now call it home.
