Rock Pool

Set gently against the cliff’s edge and opening toward expansive ocean views, Rock Pool is a contemporary coastal residence designed to feel deeply connected to both landscape and lifestyle. While modest from the street, the home unfolds into a series of warm, open and beautifully layered spaces that celebrate togetherness, retreat and the ease of coastal living.

Designed as a multigenerational family home, the interiors were carefully considered to balance openness with privacy — creating spaces that feel generous and connected, while still allowing moments of quiet retreat. Natural light, ocean breezes and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow became central to the experience of the home, with living spaces extending effortlessly into landscaped gardens, terraces and protected outdoor zones.

The material palette was intentionally restrained and tactile, drawing inspiration from the surrounding coastline and native landscape. Soft-toned stone, textured finishes, warm timber elements and handcrafted detailing create a sense of calm sophistication throughout. Layered materials and subtle tonal variation bring warmth and depth to the contemporary architectural form, while curated furnishings and finishes soften the overall experience of the spaces.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen, living and dining spaces were designed to feel welcoming, relaxed and highly functional for both everyday family life and entertaining. Flexible living zones allow the home to expand and contract naturally depending on how the spaces are being used, creating an effortless rhythm between connection and retreat.

A strong relationship to the outdoors informed every design decision. Openings were positioned to maximise natural light, cross ventilation and uninterrupted coastal views, while protected courtyards and garden spaces create moments of stillness and shelter throughout the home. The central courtyard in particular became an important pause within the architecture, bringing softness, greenery and a quiet sense of calm into the everyday experience of the interiors.

The home’s connection to water inspired both its name and overall atmosphere. The ocean outlook, layered natural materials and sculptural forms work together to create a home that feels grounded, tranquil and timeless — an elevated coastal sanctuary designed for slow living, gathering and escape.
